I had such an unexpected surprise yesterday as I was digging through my tablescaping closet looking for components for my Halloween tablescape! I reached for my Halloween candy bowl to use as the focal point for my centerpiece ,when I found 5 new Halloween dishes tucked away inside my bowl. Then I remembered, that just after Halloween last year, I had gone to SteinMart (one of my favorite Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-52940717228250468122020-10-01T08:44:00.000-07:002020-10-01T08:44:07.339-07:00A Welcome Table to Ruby Three weeks ago we picked up the newest addition to our family. She is a sweet black lab. We picked her out of a litter when she was 3 weeks old, and have been anxiously awaiting the day when we could bring her home. We have named her Ruby Apolonia of Stanford. She has lived up to her named because she is a precious gem! She is smart and loving and has taken to training VERY well. We hadn't seen each other since March because of our quarantining. While visiting, Leah presented me with four adorable napkins that she had made as part of her quarantine activities! I was so pleased by their happy colors and patterns. I haven't posted since October, and was actually contemplating "hanging up" my tablescaping hobby. I have not lost my love for my treasured china, crystal, linens, etc. , and I still have a wonderful collection that I'm not yet ready to part with. But, I just felt that I had lost my "mojo", if you know what I mean. Then March, 2020 came around and suddenly NOTHING was the Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-88643364270272661842019-10-10T07:09:00.003-07:002019-10-10T07:27:48.082-07:00Happy Halloween from The Magic HutchIt's hard to imagine that September has ended and fall has arrived. The only concrete proof I have of this is that by 5 P.M. , dusk is appearing, shadows are shorter and the air has a different feel and smell to it. Also, decorating has begun with oodles of pumpkins on steps, and pretty wreaths of leaves, pine cones and dried wheat adorn houses. During the last couple of weeks Southern CA was invaded! But, it's been a wonderful invasion. Over a million Painted Lady butterflies had left the deserts of Mexico and were flying to Oregon where their breeding grounds are located. It was an amazing sight to see: swarms of butterflies were EVERYWHERE! They were somewhat difficult to see individually because they were theRosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-43915858715040633572019-03-16T21:09:00.001-07:002019-03-16T21:09:42.148-07:00Shades of GreenHappy St. Patty's Day! I love the hobby of tablescaping, and I have a closet full of dishes and accessories in my den/office that reflect my love of the hobby and all things porcelain, china, pottery, crystal and glass. To celebrate March 17th, I decided to use components of all different shades of green so that some pieces I haven't used before (or, in a very long time), could be Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-65202160990307280372019-03-02T07:40:00.001-08:002019-03-02T07:40:59.572-08:00Ode to SpringIt's March 1st today, and I woke up with a case of Spring Fever! So, I decided to create a tablescape in honor of the season that is now upon us-----well, mostly. In Southern California, there isn't too much distinction between seasons, but this year our Winter has been punctuated with RAIN, RAIN, RAIN! Maybe that's why I have Spring Fever: because I want our sun to shine again! Not too long ago when we were visiting Bishop, CA, we found some fun antiquing possibilities. Today, I created a tablescape that shows off the dishes I found on this past trip.
Here's the Table I Created:
Here's How I Created it:

This table is honoring the FALLing leaves I remember from my days growing up on Long Island, New York. I can still see the bare trees of pending winter, feel the crispness in the fall air, smell the dusty odor as we kicked through the piles of brightly colored leaves on the sidewalk ( and also smell the burning piles ofRosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-55671341592705810342018-09-13T17:31:00.000-07:002018-09-13T17:31:42.808-07:00Fond FarewellsLet me start by saying that I am one of the most " technology-challenged" people I know. I learn the basic way to complete programs on my computer and don't venture any further down the rabbit holes of technology to do anything else. I am completely happy just learning what I have to learn, and not venturing into any other application that lurks in my computer memory. We went to a restaurant that was known for yummy breakfast fare. During the meal I fell in love with the syrup servers that were on the table. Here's a picture:

My inspiration came from being a follower of the very popular blog, Between Naps on the Porch (www.betweennapsontheporch.net) and its wonderful creative author, Susan. Little did I know that from that first blog post, I would enter a whole new world of collecting lovely ceramics, dinnerware, centerpieces, glassware, linens, Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-52078558067527420772018-03-21T20:10:00.001-07:002018-03-21T20:13:59.338-07:00Happy Spring! As Southern CA awaits the "Pineapple Express" of a spring rainstorm, I thought I'd brighten up the gray day of clouds by creating a spring tablescape.
I started my table with a vintage tablecloth that I found in an antique store in Pennsylvania. Thanks, Patty, for the fun day!! This tablecloth is absolutely beautiful, and a perfect base for a spring table. When I called to thank her, she stated that more boxes were on their way. And they were! I woke up today and decided that with temperatures in the 60's (a welcomed signal that fall has hit Southern CA) it was time to bite the bullet and FALL into tablescaping again!! Wow!! Am I rusty!! I must have stood in front of my dish storage closet for 30 minutes before an idea started to germinate. The family has been on quite a journey. On the 18th week of our daughter's pregnancy, it was discovered that our unborn granddaughter had a heart defect : an aortic arch that was too small, as well as a hole in her heart. We knew the baby would be tiny, but we hoped she could wait until her due date to be born. But, our sweet Alyssa Grace decided to be born on Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-63893471770722361562017-04-18T07:33:00.001-07:002017-04-21T07:45:11.652-07:00Easter Greetings, 2017The last Lenox Butterfly Meadow plate is stored away until next Easter, and it's time to reminisce about how wonderful this year's Easter turned out. The family all got together and we celebrated, not only Easter Sunday, but four family birthdays as well. As I've mentioned before, when the family arrives, we end up with 11 people at the "adult" table, and 8 grandchildren at the "Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-1374661897159940612017-03-08T14:35:00.001-08:002017-03-08T14:38:54.163-08:00Perfect Present from ProvenceThis past Christmas, my son-in-law's family came to visit from southern France. They joined us for Christmas dinner and the happy chaos of our gift exchange with my cousin, all the daughters, sons-in-laws and eight grandchildren! They enjoyed the day, and very graciously gifted me with some special presents! One of these gifts was the basis for today's tablescape, and I'm thrilled to share Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-144796779944489893.post-28506188603171164412017-02-01T21:43:00.001-08:002017-02-01T21:59:37.101-08:00Royal Albert Valentine Table for TwoThis past Christmas my sweet Hubby gifted me with an exquisite tea set. It is Royal Albert bone china in the Old Country Roses pattern. I have it displayed in my hutch, but I decided I wanted to honor such a special gift by making a tablescape which highlights my new tea set. I felt that the upcoming Valentine's Day would be a perfect time to share this special gift with you.

It was just before Christmas and most of the booths were decorated in red and green and the emphasis on items was on Christmas. I hope your holidays were wonderful and that your New Year is starting off in good health, with sweet memories and joyful expectations for the days ahead.
My cousin graciously gifted me with a gift card from HomeGoods for Christmas, so I decided to plan a new table for our New Year's Eve celebration. But, I did want to share my Thanksgiving table from today.

First of all, I had another surgery last week (honestly, this better be my last one for a long time!). Recovery is going well, but I have quite a few restrictions. A couple of those restrictions include NO lifting of over 5 pounds and limited bending. Well, fellow tablescapers know that those restrictions make our hobby Rosie M.http://www.blogger.com/profile/12830009889096032701noreply@blogger.com16
